4-String Jazz Bass for James

This is a bass being built for James, who is the son of our church's pastor. He also plays bass in our contemporary worship band. The bass has these specifications:

  • Black northern swamp ash body to be finished in KTM9 waterborne lacquer
  • Birdseye maple neck
    • double action truss rod
    • black position markers
    • Birdseye maple fingerboard
    • 21 medium jumbo frets
  • Black hardware
  • B/W/B plastic pickguard and control plate
  • Bartolini pickups
  • Passive electronics
  • Pickup and control cavities shielded with Copper foil

The body has been cut to shape, the pickup cavities and neck pocket routed, and the bodu edges rounded to 3/8" radius:

The neck has been carved and sanded to 150-grit, and the position markers (black plastic) have been installed. Here's what the headstock looks like:
